Description
This piece began along the beaches of Cyprus, where I carefully gathered each shell and piece of seaglass over time. The three softly textured shells that form the flower were found washed ashore by the Mediterranean Sea, their natural ridges and warm tones preserved beautifully by nature. The seaglass pieces, shaped and frosted by years of tumbling waves, were also collected by hand, chosen for their organic forms and soft coastal hues!
Back in my studio, I thoughtfully composed these seaside treasures into a minimalist botanical design. The shells became delicate petals, arranged into a simple three-part bloom. Smooth green seaglass forms the leaves, while a softly frosted white piece creates the flower pot below. A hand-drawn, gently curved stem connects the elements, adding movement and balance while blending illustration with natural materials.
This artwork celebrates the quiet beauty of simplicity, natural textures, soft neutral tones, and the organic elegance only the sea can create. Every element has been shaped first by nature, then carefully arranged by hand into a peaceful floral composition. No two shells or pieces of seaglass are ever identical, making this artwork truly one of a kind.
The last two photos were taken under direct sunlight to show how the seaglass transforms with light, glowing more brightly and revealing its natural translucency when illuminated by the sun!
