Description

The Kingfisher is a stunning bird, known for its exceptional diving abilities and vibrant metallic blue plumage. The use of 24ct gold gilding in this artwork adds a touch of sparkle and transforms it into a unique, one-of-a-kind treasure. I aimed to reference Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, while highlighting the importance of caring for and protecting our seas and waterways.

This original artwork is displayed on acid-free, deep brown mount board, allowing the deckled edge of the paper to be visible. It is framed in a shallow box frame for protection. The frame is made of wood and features a speckled gold surface that highlights the gilding in the artwork.
